Digital Access & Cross Connect (DACS)

Orion provides an easily managed network device that is used by telecom carriers and enterprises to digitally switch and route T1 lines and slower audio interfaces. These devices can cross-connect any T1 line with any other T1 line or connect a sub-set of DS-0 time slots within a T1 to any other T1. They can also aggregate several T1 lines into higher-speed electrical or optical lines as well as to distribute signals to various destinations.

Orion DACS devices can be used for "grooming" telecommunications traffic, switching traffic from one circuit to another in the event of a network failure, and support automated provisioning Having a DACS in a circuit-switched network provides important flexibility that can otherwise only be obtained at higher cost using manual "DSX" cross-connect patch panels.
